Change of Plans: We're Staying in Las Vegas!
Yep. You read that right. We're not moving to St. Louis after all. What changed since our last newsletter? Honestly… a lot. 😅
Welcome back to Josh & Jayna’s Journal! We’re so glad you’re here as we continue sharing this unfolding season with you, month by month, leading up to our wedding in Cabo. This edition is about foundational pillars.
Regarding the move, we realized that even though the opportunity was great from the outside, it was misaligned on the inside…. That decision ~ though uncomfortable ~ was a HUGE turning point for us. We are choosing stability in our life in Las Vegas for now, keeping large changes to a minimum in our first year of marriage.
We are focusing on what matters most ~ our marriage. This is a foundational pillar for us.
Our foundation is so important to each of us. A foundation built on Integrity, Intentionality, Community, Ownership, Love, Truth, Faith, and Depth.
More about our foundation below… But first, let’s talk important reminders.
Travel To Do’s!
✈️ Book your airfare
📝 Staying on resort, submit your flight details here! This is your airport pickup.
🏨 Reserve your room on our weddings website and pay in full before July 17th, 2025.
🔑 Check your passport (Must be valid 6 months past return date.)
😍 Start thinking about what you want to wear in Cabo! You are going to look so stunning!
Some have asked…
Can we reserve our room after the July 17th deadline?
You’re welcome to request a room through our wedding website after the deadline, and you may still receive the wedding rate if there’s availability. However, after July 17th, we lose our room block and all bookings become subject to the resort’s current rates and availability. Since October is high season in Cabo, rooms may book up quickly—so if you are joining we highly recommend locking in your spot.
This will also help us confirm our guest count and move into our next phase of wedding planning!
Can I stay for fewer than 3 nights?
Unfortunately, the resort requires has a 3 night minimum stay.
🎬VLOG 6 is HERE!
This one’s simple. Just relax & lofi vibe with us.
Take 5 minutes to pause. Breathe. Feel the sunshine.
This is a little love poem in motion.
We believe love lives in the small acts of care. And often, the best way to move forward… is to slow down.
This is a tribute to slowing down, and a celebration of life for Jayna’s grandmother, who we lost last month. Her love and wit linger like a hummingbird in flight. May her soul rest in peace. 🕊️
Wedding Shoe Reveal
Jayna finished her wedding reception shoes! (Let’s just say they’re handmade, elegant, and full of detail.)
From Our Heart to Yours
We had the joy of attending A Weekend to Remember by FamilyLife - a marriage retreat in Scottsdale, AZ with 600 other couples - that left us inspired, humbled, and stronger. Thank you Brad and Felicia for the gift.
This weekend made us pause and ask: What kind of marriage, family, and legacy are we really building? And how are we doing it together?
A reminder we’ll hold onto: No marriage is static. You’re either drifting toward isolation or moving toward oneness.
And communication is critical to moving toward oneness.
Helpful Reminder: The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.
Ask: “Do you feel like I really understand you?”
Great communication isn’t just about talking. It’s about timing, tone, and tenderness.
When having a conversation, you can even ask: “What did you hear?” to create clarity.
Marriage is the only institution in the world where you can win every battle but lose the war.
Highlights from June:
🎶 LSZee concerts – two nights in a row
🍃 Deciding to pursue sobriety together
🌲 Nature days that nourished our souls
💍 Marriage Retreat Weekend
⛪ Weekly church group

A Quick Life Reflection
Have you ever realized you were making life harder than it needed to be?
We both have.
For years, it seems we had been searching, striving, overthinking, and trying to carry it all ourselves. Wanting to prove we were strong enough, steady enough & ready enough.
Though this June brought a major wake-up call.
For each of us, in different ways.
And the thing is… storms will come, especially when we ignore what’s been quietly asking for our attention. Skipping over pain, sugar-coating discomfort, and choosing to avoid or escape challenges only delay and interfere in life.
So moving forward, we’re choosing the harder, more honest way:
Not over it.
Not around it.
Not under it.
Through it.
Feel it to heal it.
Deal with it so the truth can reveal itself.
Experiencing chaos?
(This is our current game plan — almost 4 weeks in and it’s working wonders.)
Choose sobriety
To gain clarity, better sleep, less anxiety, and more emotional balance.Pray / Meditate daily
Helps us stay grounded, more aware, and connected to what really matters.Dial in your daily routines + habits
Routines give rhythm. Habits build confidence and willpower. Some things may need to go to make space for what truly supports you.Cut the caffeine or limit it to only 2x a week.
Less jittery. Better focus. More natural energy. Better for the nervous system.
Small shifts = big returns.
Newest addition has been the “5 AM Club.” We have been going to bed between 8-9PM and waking up at 4:55AM.
“Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones.”
— Luke 16:10
A Note to YOU
We’re officially under 4 months away!
It’s wild to think how close this celebration of love, laughter, and sunshine truly is. We can’t wait to hug you, dance with you, and make memories in Cabo.
From the center of our hearts: THANK YOU.
Having you on this journey with us is such a gift.
With love,
Josh & Jayna
