It’s wild how much can move through us in one month. Celebration, reflection, frustration, and deep joy. Sometimes it feels like we’re crushing it. Sometimes we’re just feeling it. And both are sacred, one honest day at a time.

Welcome back to Josh & Jayna’s Journal! We’re so glad you’re here as we continue sharing this unfolding season with you, month by month, leading up to our wedding in Cabo. This edition is full of lots of food, slow magic, and the kind of love that shows up even when life gets messy.

Stormy skies and still moments. Big feelings and patience. Deep conversations and sweet celebrations. Nature mirrored a lot of what we felt this month - shifting, shedding and slowly opening toward something new. Welcoming Spring. Check out the newest vlog “Food and Feelings” here!

From Our Heart to Yours

Sometimes the most loving thing we can do for each other.. is to hold steady. It’s not realistic to expect that we’ll be “on” 100% of the time. Life ebbs. Emotions rise. And the goal isn’t to be perfect- it’s presence. When your partner is processing something, it’s easy to take it personally. But the truth? 90-95% of the time, it’s not about you. It’s about something stirring inside them.

That was Jayna’s experience this month. Out of the blue, a wave of frustration and emotion hit. She used her tools, took the morning to herself and still felt heavy. So she turned to Josh and said “I’m really going through it right now, so please be patient with me.”

Josh didn’t fix it. He didn’t rush it.
Instead, he asked a couple gentle questions, stood with grounded presence, and held space.

And that was everything.
No solving. Just calm, compassion, and trust that Jayna could move through her own storm with support beside her.

Low moments aren’t setbacks. They’re quiet invitations to grow closer, deepen trust, and strengthen the foundation beneath you.

A Quick Life Reflection

It’s wild to say this, but….
March 13 marked Jayna’s third anniversary since her bad car accident. From waking up on the concrete lucky to be alive, to waking up next to her husband in three short but intense years, she could never have imagined this journey of perseverance and growth.

We’ve been reflecting on how change actually happens- slow, steady, often invisible and then one day, you look back and everything’s changed.

Jayna’s body is still recovering in some ways. Her workout regimen is now zero impact and light weights - a big shift from her pre-accident self.

Josh, meanwhile, has discovered the sacred art of a mid-day rest. We call them Productivity Naps - this is one of Jayna’s life secrets for healing.
* Grant yourself permission to rest and be productive.

Naps are scientifically backed:

Boosts memory + learning: A short nap can enhance your brain’s ability to retain and consolidate information.

Improves creativity + problem-solving: During rest, your brain forms new neural connections.

Reduces stress + inflammation: Napping helps regulate cortisol, the stress hormone. Lower cortisol = better immune function and cellular repair.

Mood + Emotional Regulation: Brief rest can bring your nervous system into a calm, parasympathetic state, helping you regulate stress and return to center. Naps also help reset your limbic system (the part of your brain that processes emotion), making you less reactive and more grounded.

Ideal Nap Timing:

  • 10–20 minutes: Quick energy + mental boost (best for productivity)

  • 30–60 minutes: Deeper rest, supports memory + creativity

  • 90 minutes: Full sleep cycle (if you're really wiped out)
