From Our Heart to Yours

Marriage since the wedding has been less about doing more
and more about stillness — simply.

One of the greatest gifts we’ve given ourselves since the wedding
has been reclaiming rest and practicing Sabbath.
We agreed to begin the very first weekend after the wedding —
and we’ve kept that promise.

Since then, we’ve settled into a weekly Sabbath rhythm
from Saturday evening through Monday morning.

No phones.
No technology.
Just connection, naps, church, Scripture, warm meals, and presence.

And wow — it’s been a wholehearted yes for us.
For our souls.
Our bodies.
Our minds.

We nap hard on Sundays.

“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”

Mark 2:27

Sabbath isn’t about rules ~ it’s about restoration.
It’s an invitation to step out of hurry and back into what matters.

A few benefits we’ve noticed:

  • Deeper connection and conversation

  • Calmer nervous systems

  • Better sleep

  • Clearer priorities

  • More joy in simple things

If you’re curious, start small.
A few hours. A phone-free morning. A slow evening meal.
Create a rhythm that works for your season.

A Quick Life Reflection

The book we ended 2025 with: The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry

We read the book out loud together, and finished it on a quiet end-of-year retreat near Joshua Tree National Park. We spent the last week of the year reflecting on 2025 and envisioning 2026 and life ahead. The book, and our Sabbath practice, helped us realize that for us, the season ahead is more about simple, slower living than our previous years. Creating space for us to root down so we can bear healthy fruit in God’s timing.

The book “Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” is a gentle and honest invitation to slow down and live differently in a world that glorifies busyness. John Mark Comer reminds us that hurry isn’t just inconvenient ~ it quietly erodes our peace, presence, and connection with God and one another.

Rather than offering productivity hacks, the book points back to the unhurried rhythms of Jesus: rest, Sabbath, simplicity, and intentional living. It’s less about managing time and more about protecting the soul.

A life without hurry makes room for love to grow.

Let talk Naps, they are scientifically backed:

Boosts memory + learning: A short nap can enhance your brain’s ability to retain and consolidate information.

Improves creativity + problem-solving: During rest, your brain forms new neural connections.

Reduces stress + inflammation: Napping helps regulate cortisol, the stress hormone. Lower cortisol = better immune function and cellular repair.

Mood + Emotional Regulation: Brief rest can bring your nervous system into a calm, parasympathetic state, helping you regulate stress and return to center. Naps also help reset your limbic system (the part of your brain that processes emotion), making you less reactive and more grounded.

Ideal Nap Timing:

  • 10–20 minutes: Quick energy + mental boost (best for full days)

  • 30–60 minutes: Deeper rest, supports memory + creativity

  • 90 minutes: Full sleep cycle (if you're really wiped out)

A rested soul hears more clearly.
